Smalltalk am JahresendeLesezeit: < 1 Minute
The Christmas season is usually an easy time to make small talk. You just ask what the other person will be doing, if they’ve done their Christmas shopping, how are they going to celebrate New Year and so on.
But this year, in a lot of companies the Christmas spirit is somewhat dampened by the general economic gloom. You may be dealing with clients or colleagues who are finding it hard to cope or who are nervous about what 2009 might bring.
These expressions will help you get through small talk in the face of the global economic crisis:
- These past few weeks have been so difficult for everyone. I’m really looking forward to a few days of peace and quiet at Christmas. What about you?
- I wonder what’s facing us in the New Year?
- I’m sure things will start looking up soon. But I expect we’re all going to have to tighten our belts. What do you think?
