In Englisch über den Beruf sprechen

Sind Sie jeden Tag im Büro? Wie oft besuchen Sie Kunden? In unserem Beruf sprechen wir auch typischerweise über unsere Arbeit mit anderen. Heute stellen wir Ihnen einige typische Fragen vor und wie man diese Fragen beantworten kann, in dem man über die Häufigkeit spricht.

Dear Reader,

In our job, we typically talk about our work to others. Today, let’s practice this by using words to describe how often we do certain things in our work. Here are some regular questions in this connection:

  • When do you get to the office in the morning?
  • What do you do first?
  • Are you in the office every day?
  • What do you do on a typical day at the office?
  • Do you usually visit clients?
  • When do you prefer to visit clients?
  • How often do you attend any planning meetings?
  • How often do you use Powerpoint?
  • How often do you have to give a presentation?
  • Do you often go abroad?
  • When do you usually finish work?
  • When does the office close at the end of the day?

To describe how often you do these things, use words such as

  • Frequently (oft)
  • Often (oft)
  • Rarely (selten)
  • Almost always (fast immer)
  • Always (immer)
  • Almost never (fast nie)
  • Hardly ever (kaum)
  • Mostly (meistens)
  • Typically (typischerweise)
  • Usually (moistens)
  • Normally (normalerweise)
  • Generally (in der Regel)
  • Regularly (regelmäßig)
  • Sometimes (manchesmal)
  • Seldomly (selten)
  • Never (niemals)

If your sentence has one verb, we usually place the adverb between the subject and the verb, e.g.:

  • I often finish work between six and seven in the evening.
  • I hardly ever give a presentation.
